Where did you purchase the radio?

The am on those radios are crisp aand clear. SSB is even better. Obviuosly theres something wrong. If you baught it at Copper, and it has its full warranty and the silver sticker still intacted, then the warranty will be honored and the radio repaired.

Somthing is wrong with it, I would send it to 307 for an alignment.

The radio was purchased from Copper about 3 months ago. I havent had much time to talk on it so unfortunately I'm just finding this out now. One other thing, when I turn the RF power down to min. the modulation clears up.

The Lincolns and 2510s will have bad AM modulation if you run the power very high. I've never got the super loud clean AM modulation from them like that of the Galaxys and Magnums, or even the Cobras.

It really shouldn't matter where the RF power is set, it should still sound clear.
I would post this in the "Ask the Tech" section of this forum so that one of techs can help you on this.

If they did the peak and tune, I noticed when the variable is on high, mine does this too but I think it was turned up to max so thats understandable.

I keep my variable at about 9-11 o'clock most of the time.

The only way a 2510/2600/Lincoln will sound loud and crisp on AM is to run the carrier below about 6 watts. Ive had both the 2510 and the 2600 and they both rocked on am but I ran the carrier at about 4 watts and let it swing to about 40....
