Good for you Buck on that warm fuzzy feeling, I was on all day long, I tried for you and dx 431 many times, I heard Lon shout for me, so I kicked a little boom boom to the wire and gave a yell back but must have just missed him, I got ships in the Atlantic, good that warm fuzzy feeling isn"t it.

Well highlander my wife bought me a new chipswitched Lincoln, I traded some things for a Palomar Skipper, and bought a new Dosy TC-4001P. My shack is a mess right now because I have it all tore apart. I am in the process of changing everything around, making new R-213 Jumpers, and Grounding everything. Take forever to get everything the way I like it. That Lincoln is awsome.....Top Notch.

I was hoping for a new LINCOLN from COPPER from my wife, but she went and bought me a new SEIKO Gold Chronograph wristwatch. Guess I better be thankful she got me anything at all?

Bullet...Im not sure if Copper can do the chipswitch mod or not. Ask in customer service and someone will let you know. Mine was done by a very good friend in Florida...The chipswitch is a great mod

Hi just my 2 cents.........

The lincoln has several very good mods( can be done by user )

1) chipswitch makes this into a true allmode including repeater offsets memories and allows you to tune continusly from 24.8-29.7 ( about ) also has 11 meter bands in the radio REQUIRES GOOD SOLDERING AND PROPER TOOLS.

2) a 10.695 mhz channel guard add one its like a new radio selectivy wise big reduction in bleed over. EASY MOD

3) replacing reciever RF amp ( TRICKY!) but in one i had doubled reciever sens from .4 to .2uv

Just my opinion

Bruce I gotta ask that question that you ask all time, WHY. Why put 400 dollars plus into a 1985 model radio when you can buy a new radio with all those things allready included. The Magnum Omegaforce has the offset, split, memory channels, and the memories save mode and freq, it's just as good on sideband as the Lincoln and better on AM, and for a lot less money. If you couldn't have done the work yourself, and had paid a tech for the work on your lincoln, you could have bought a great 100 watt all band HF rig for the same money. In fact, by the time most of us dummies would have paid someone to put all those things in a lincoln, we could almost buy a Ranger 2995 base, or an Omegaforce with a nice amplifier. Just my opinion. scrapiron

BigBob:

What are you trying to do? Get me in the DOGHOUSE? I love that new watch.... I love that new watch... I love that new watch... I almost believe it myself...

Scrap:

I'm with you. You convinced me. Spend $500 on a new ICOM 718? Plus shipping? Better to get the MAGNUM OMEGAFORCE.

Scrap

By nature im a expermenter and taking a well built radio and builting new life into it is something i like to do. Also unlike many on the forum i have the experance and skills to do the work myself. The lincoln with mods is one of the better radio out there and will hold its own with most low end ham radios. Is it for every one .... no are there better ways ..... yes but a decked out lincoln is a fine radio 1985 vintage or not. Would I do it again sure if i had a need to do so right now im maxed out on hf radios. The lincoln is like a S line or a 75A reciever thoes who love them will not be swayed.
Just my opinion

I own two RCI2950DXs, one Delta Force and just bought a used HR2510 and a new Lincoln- Chipswitched because neither the RCI or delta Force has the receive or the audio of the Lincoln-Hr2510.

Hey Bruce,
Keep an eye out for a deceased Icom IC-2410. I have one with a dead front panel and Icom want $160 for the IC that is dead. Either that or if you know someone that needs one for parts I have one.
