steve,

#1 ~ Buy / Get Amplifier
#2 ~ Set Power Output / Drive on Radio to Specification's for Amplifier
#3 ~ Hook Amplifier to Radio with Coax Jumper.
#4 ~ Have good Antenna and Hook Antenna Coax to Amplifier
#5 ~ Check SWR if SWR is good Start Talking.

Unless the heathkit has had relays added, you will need some way to key the amp. It won't key with RF. It was made to use with a HF rig that had a keying jack. You can use a foot switch, or some other remote switch.

Funny you mentioned that, Scrapiron, when I first got my Heathkit, I had always had amps that keyed with the radio. I hooked up the Heathkit, didnt work, took it to a tech (when I lived in Oh., cant find any techs here yet), and he hooked it to his radio, took out a footswitch, and it worked fine. He asked me " is this the same way you had it hooked up?" I said, with my face red as a beet, "maybe my footswitch is bad, Do you have one for sale" and slithered home, and it worked fine!! Duh
