Would that be a 2 pin or 3 pin power cord?

COPPER has them all:

The first step would be to find out who actually made the Sears "Roadtalker" radios. I was told once that they were made by Cobra for Sears & Roebuck but I cannot confirm that. If you can find out the actual manufacturer, see if the power connection matches the ones the manufacturer used on its own line of radios. Then you could order the same power cord that fits the more popular "name brand" model that is a twin to your Roadtalker. If the radios were exclusively made for Sears, with nothing in common with the models made by the actual manufacturer, then the problem becomes more difficult.

Failing that, you may have to replace the chassis connector with one of the generic two or three pin types of chassis connectors that are easy to find. You will need to find a parts shop that can sell you the chassis connector. Most CB shops only have the power cord that plugs into the chassis connector.

Perhaps one of the technicians at Copper Electronics can recommend a very common connector type to replace the original one. If they have the chassis connector and the matching power cord in stock it might be the easiest way to solve the problem. Otherwise it might take a while to track down the obscure matching power cord that is required with the stock chassis connector.

Hopefully you can find a common chassis connector that is similar in size/shape to the original connector. This will reduce the amount of work necessary to get the new connector to fit into the hole in the radio chassis where the old one is currently installed.

Good Luck!

Does anyone else have any ideas or suggestions?

Who made the radio for Sears? Was it radio shack? If so, let me know and I will give you web site to go to to cross reference. Send me e mail and I can respond quicker that way. Thanks.

Freebird,

Pull Plug socket out of radio and Solder any 110 cord to it.

Use Volt/Ohm meter to determine Neg / Ground side.

Or get Plug & Cord form any other 110 base and add it in place of the Stock plug.

Hope this helps.
