Just wondering how a mobile amp would work in the house on a good power supply? Would TVI be a worse problem with these than a base amp or is TVI mainly bad stuff coming from the radio and amplified through any amp? What is your take on this?

Its been my experience that any of the solid state amps, either base or mobile amps on a power supply are worst for TVI than tube type amps. A transistor mobile amp on a power supply is just as good as a transistor base amp, no better or no worst on TVI. Just my opinion.

Mike I believe most of the TVI problems come from the radio's being run like a dragster on nitrous oxide wide open.

I used to run a Galaxy DX 2527 (best galaxy radio i ever had) into a Texas star DX 667 once on a 100 amp power supply with no problems. But i grounded the you-know-what out of the radio, amp, antenna, antenna swtichbox, and even the power supply plus i had a filter inline.... Nary a whimper out of any TV or phone!!!

Wow, no tvi with that kind of power. I had been leaning toward tubes for the house. But those KLV mobile amps sure are priced right and right now I'm tempted to get one for the mobile and put one on a power supply. Probably will get some kind of amp (s) this year. The car sure could use one with the bad conditions and all.

It's because it's a small amp,now get a kl500,and your phone will ring off the hook, then you would need a lowpass filter.Oh,if your neighbors are farther away than 100 yards, that also helps.

I'm not interested in doing more than 150 watts max. As I said, the car needs one worse than the base. The base does a really good job barefooted. But at these prices....how can you resist?

Now i also ran a X Force 612 base amp once and it did almost 2KW swing from a 500 watt key! Still NO problems!!!! LOL!!!!! Sold the amp long ago though.... Needed the $$ for another project....
