today i mounted my 4 element maco horizontally on a 10' pipe with an adapter to fit my reciever hitch on the front of my toyota 4x4. now i have a 96 h.p. rotor! i checked the swr with a pdc 600 and a midland 40ch. radio. i dont know if the pdc is accurate or not, or if the reading is to be believed, but the needle only moves forward a wee bit off the 1. |

Where will you drive this vehicle? Is this an experiment or will you keep the antenna on the vehicle? This does kind of make me think of the Jethro-a-phone. Remember when Jethro plugged up the no. 2 washtub with the bass string attached? mikefromms |

the directions say to mount the beam horizontal 9' from the ground to set swr. i already had an adapter to fit something else and thought this would be a good secure way to stand it up. i dont know if the truck body will give bogus readings or not. the weather was good friday and saturday but today is rainy with worse weather to come , so this is temporary, but i think i will drive up on the hill behind my house which is about 50' higher and try it on the net sunday. i wiil temporarily store it on another truck while waiting for better weather. in another post somewhere someone was asking about a mobil beam, well here it is. 174 in central ohio |
