ok i live in an apartment and they do not alow antennas on the rough i live on the ground floor of a two story apartment i have had a 102 stailess steel whip out on the porch area with no complaints from the management but from me i must complain that i donot get out well at all any sugestions on what i can do also i have a high match like a 3 how can i get that to come down any help

The 102" whip requires a ground. Run a wire from the ant mount and find a copper ground rod or something similar to attach it to. that will help with the swrs and will also help with the tx and rx. With being on the ground floor, the lack of height is hurting you.If you can get the ant higher that would help.

A lot of it is in the grounding, what kind of mount do you have?

I live in a ground floor apartment too and all i have is an old astroplane mounted on a stake in the yard. i cant talk more than 5 miles away either and it stinks! Im gonna ask the landlord if i can put up a pushup mast so i can get me an I maxx 2000 so i can get out..

As I said just now in another thread, try a halfwave dipole or fullwave loop around the edge of teh porch -worked well for me 20 years back.

I used to use, and still do occassionally,
a 4' by 4' cast iron table with a glass top. The legs of the table are 26" in height. I used a trucker's mirror mount, mounted on the side of the table with a 6' Wilson Silverload,and quick-disconnect screwed into the mirror mount. On a clear channel, I could top from Daly City to Oakland California (35 miles).

thanks for all the advise im not sure what a full wave loop is or how to make it but sounds interesting also i already have an a99 and a 3foot tripod but cant seem to locate a push up pole (mast) aperantly radio shack discontinued i have thought about putting up the a99 i see other people putting there satalite antennas up and noone seems to complain so maybeill try that if i could find a push up pole that i could raise to use then lower when not talking and dig a 60 foot hole whats the deal there

Sorry about the 60' hole, just cover it up, or fill it with cement to steady your push up pole
