I had one of these in the 70's and I gave it away when I got out of radio in 84. Got back into the hobby in 99 and wish I would have held on to it. I run a Maco 5/8 and think it is close to the Penetrator without the high price.

67GTO, I will never part with my penetrator! I have had so many good results with this antenna. They're getting so hard to find anymore. You can usually watch on ebay from time to time but they sell for about what that auction ended for. I worked with an engineer who was part designer for that antenna for hygain back in the 70's and he swears by it. There's a lot of great antenna's now also but I think I'll stick with the oldie but goodie antenna's like this one. Anyone else have any comments on this antenna?

Ill say this much. I will NOT sell my P 500. here were I live they are soo rare and ive only seen 2 more than the one i have now.. I had it up once to see if it was ok after i bought it and it works great! I gave a kid 15.00 for it because he said he couldnt get a decent SWR on it and all that was wrong was it had a broke beta match and the end was broke off. Fixed it with no problem!!!!!!

You could buy a beam for that price. No way would I give that much money for a groundplane.

Well the guy who bought it must have wanted it or he would not have bid that price.

I did notice that there was 7 bids on it in the Last 10 oe 12 minutes so other's maust have wanted it also.

The High Bidder get's the Prize.

When I see something I want on e-Bay it makes no difference what the price is I WILL GET IT!

Tech 307 told me about a set of Books I was looking at that I wanted and the bids were around $130.00 and he said get them no matter what.

So I threw a bid of $700.00 on them and was very glad I did as the last 5 minutes there were about 20 Bids that took them up to around $300.00 But I did Get them!

And I am not sorry.

An item is only worth what a person want's to pay for it if they want it.

Just my thought's.

Lon

I've had 3 of them given to me in the last few years with the most recent just a couple weeks ago. That one is in the best shape of the three. I have enough parts to build a 4th. Looks like I need to do some advertising!

Never had a problem, been on e-bay since 98 and still have No Negative or Neutral comment's.

Buying roughly 30 to 40.000 worth of merchandise and selling about same amount.

Guess I am Lucky & Honest

my biggest problem with ebay is PAYPAL!!!!!

they charge WAY to much in fact they get about what you pay ebay for the listing and final value fee so your total cost is doubled to sell

example I sold my 2990DX for 450 on ebay who charged me $13.00 not including listing fees and my paypal fee was $13.35 AND i still had to ship!!!!!!!! all together the radio cleared $395.00 ,,,,,,55 to ebay, paypal and UPS :(

Thats one reason why I don't use paypal. You've got to make enough on the item youre selling to make it worth your time.

A Few Helpful TIP's

#1 ~ Buyer "ALWAYS" pays for all Shipping & Insurance if desired or Buyer pays for Shipping and You pay for Insurance to cover both of you should something happen in shipping.

#2 ~ Make "ALL" Listings International (World Wide) & Accept: Bank Cashier's Check's / Money Order's, US Postal Money Order or Western Union International Money Order (Payment in US Funds Only).

This allows you to cash Postal Money Order's at Post Office or Western Union Money Orders at Stores and save you running them through your Bank Account.

#3 ~ Place a Reserve on the item that will Cover the Listing, Paypal & Insurance fee's.

#4 ~ Always place listing's on Thursday for 10 Days as this allows people who get paid every two weeks to have money to pay for item, and allow's two weekends for people to see your listing & save for it.

#5 ~ e-Bay Listing Fees, Pay Pal Fee's and Shipping Fees are deductable on your taxes

#6 ~ Always make your Reserve the Least amount that you are willing take for it.

We do not use e-Bay to lose money!

Ebay is the place to shop if you know what you are looking for and look at the ads carefully, I have bought and sold on there for a number of years, and overall have been pleased with it. Paypal does kind of suck, but it is convenient to speed up the deal.

Ive noticed a new trend with that Paypal deal. Now theres a new thing that makes you pay the seller immediately when using Paypal. I see a lot of guys are going to that now and for the guys like me that dont have Paypal or cant get Paypal or cant get a credit card that kinda stinks!!

Ebay just had to pay big bucks to settle a lawsuit over paypal. Ebay bought paypal out sometime back, but paypal had stole the idea from some guy that had developed the software and had used it with other companies. Now ebay has just raised their rates for selling and using paypal, so the users will be paying the lawsuit. But its still by far the best place to sell items, were else are you gonna get 500 people to look at an old radio in 2 or 3 days. I hardly ever run an auction over 5 days anymore. Most time you get bids right at first, then nothing till the last few hours. And I never bid on anything untill the last few minutes, why run the price up by trying to beat someone on the first day.

Exactly right, scrapiron, or you dont get any bids until the last three hours, then zoom. If you really want something you have to take a chance like 808 did, or watch til the last second, or use some of the sniperware that is out there.
