I have a Galaxy external frequency counter on my General Lee radio. When I modulate, the numbers on the frequency counter jump all over the place. It works fine on recieve, but as soon as I key up and talk the frequency varies. The radio itself works fine. What can cause this and how do I fix it?

Yes Freebird, that's it. This is the second general Lee I've had and the first one worked great with the same frequency counter. I took the radio and counter into the CB shop and it worked fine on the bench, but when I put it back in my truck it did the same thing.

CBbb,
Sounds like the radio isnt getting enough amperage and the power is fluctuating during keydown when it's installed in your car. Check your wiring and check your swr as well. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. 73's...

you have some type of rf feedback getting into the counter. it could be from the antenna not being grounded properly or not tuned properly. it could be other things also. you may have to use some ferrite chokes on the interconnecting harness.

If I just decide to disconnect the frequency counter will I be doing any damage to my radio?
