Has anyone ever used one of these couplers?
If so, how well do they work, and how much power can they handle?

yes they work i had one used it on my 74 chevy i dont know how much power they can handle but a export radio should be safe with one. |

The item that you re speaking of is a waste of $$$. First things first, I have never been able to get the SWR's right on one of these. My cousin put one in his 68 Ford Van, it did not work, not only did the SWR's not get right; but AM/FM reception was severly limmited. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that was my experience with one.

Heck I used to make a version for commercial frequencies (VHF two-ways) and never had problems. If the coupler is made correctly it should work without any problems for either radio. Maybe the one that Sd422 had was a cheap or incorrectly made unit.
I even had one for myself that I used on a 2m radio inconjunction with a AM/FM radio. |
