about 1200-1300 43p birdies! is the norm with that radio as a driver dependant on drive level.

its a 10x mult factor untill you start getting to the limits of the tubes.

at 5 watts dead key on my saturn turbo it talks around 80 watts pep and can swing up to 120 watts pep with more mic gain, this works wonderfully with a pair of zees. and things run cool and easy.

Yep the old turbo would swing 150-200 watts, but not like they came. A stock one on a 30 watt key would maybe do 50 watts swing, the meter would look like it hit a brickwall. I know some think removing the limiter is the cardinal sin, but back about 1991 when I ordered my first turbo none of the present day modifications were around that I knew about, all we knew was to remove TR32, or lift the center leg, same thing. Then we got the idea of putting the center leg on a small toggle switch on the rear panel, you could turn the limiter on or off, that worked better for SSB, it wouldn't run wide open all time. The turbo was a pretty good driver for an old Henry 2k classic running 2 3-500z's that I knew about, like bullet said, about 30-35 watts key on the turbo would get about 300 keyup and almost peg the 2K scale on a pep meter. Awesome audio, quantity and quality.

10-04 on the limiter deal.
Yeah all i know is when i ran my 1000-P with the 2995 and/or my ranger AR 3500 the amp would do every bit of 1200 or a tad more on high.. Loud and proud but i had to sell the amp to get extra dough for a cool camping trip i wanted to go on!!! The 1000P is/was a great amp for the $$$ well, any KLV amp is worth the $$$$.. Anywhoooooo, -IF- and IF i do get another "antenna ice melter" ill go 3-500 tubes! B-) :-D

One other question, would there be an advantage to putting a variable pot on the center leg of the tr-32?Bigbob
