Cm3885,

I'm on SSB 99.99% of the time I'm on here. Usually around 38 LSB, but you never know. That one gets to busy for even me. My first radio was SSB and after my first contact, I was hooked. Anyway, hope to hear you out there sometime. And if you hear me, give me a shout. I'd be more than glad to return the call.

SURE! ALL OF THE CEF NET MEMBER's TALK ON SSB!

Ever hear of the Copper Electronic's Forum (CEF) Net's we hold every SUNDAY on Channel 13 / 27.115 LSB and the CEF 10 Meter Net's on 28.360?

Ever read the CEF Net Connection's area here on the Forum?

The CEF Members list their Net Contact's there every Sunday.

We had 4 NEW CEF Member's sign up today.

I Issued CEF #279 this morning.

Heck, you can even go to the CEF Membership list to the left of this post and see all of the CEF Members and what States & Countries they live in.

And in the CEF Area of the Forum you can see how many Member's are in each State & Country.

And for more fun thru the week you can generally find a lot ot the Copper Forum Members on 38,39 or 40 also LSB.

IF YOU ARE "NOT" A CEF MEMBER YOU ARE SURE MISSING OUT ON A LOT OF FUN ON THE CEF NET's and in the CHAT ROOM!

And it is ALL on SSB.

Lon

The fact is SSB is about 80% of all hobby radio below 28 mhz SSB filters are standard in HF only ham sets you have to BUY CW, AM or FM. As for FM its my mode but has no place below 29 ...too wide for cb.

Bruce,
I agree that it may be a bit W I D E but as far as the mode for use around here it works really well! We have about 50 or so people that meet for the net.
We exchange ideas about antennas and mods and such. We discuss CB Ham SWL and anything related to the radio hobby.
We have members from all over.
We had no idea that it would catch on like it has.

You all take care

Your talking to a FM-A-HALIC Fm is my mode of choice. Now as for using it below 29 FM takes up at least 20 khz that is the smallest channel you can use on 10 meters the ch are 600, 620, 640, 660 and 680 thats 5 ch in 100KHZ! But there is room to burn up there. The FCC made a huge error not opening up ch30-ch40 for SSB ONLY and 27.430-600 for FM only like they have in other parts of the world ( austraila has a 40 ch UHF CB at about 470 mhz ) Even in 1976 there would have been a fairly small displacement of current users and a huge increase in usebal channel space. Under the current plan ssb has to shair the 17 new channels with am just not a good thing since the 2 modes realy need to be kept apart. 9 or 10 fm only channels would have appeled to the less hobby geared users the moble to base croud the mom and pop and the guys who just want to chat going up the road ..... illeagal users ...... and you know there would be some would still be free to move up the band. All of this could have been done but it has a fatal flaw IT MAKES SENCE and GASP! the FCC would not want to be know for doing that!

I do ssb 75% of the time but when nobody is there I go to the AM channels because I have friends there and like to talk to them. Its more than just a bunch of yelling, its just harassing good friends sometimes. Take a listen once in awhile to 6-26-11 there is alot of good folks there its just a different mode that takes more power due to everyone else using mo-power.

I use AM&ssb about equally. AM is fun for all the loud radios/toys etc., sideband can't be beat for groundwave/dx contacts. How else could I talk out west or to Europe from NY like they were next door! AM is best for around town though, because it is simple and my kids can talk to me without messing with a clarifier and trying to tune me in.

Well...Now Open Invitation 27.575LSB, I and about several of my friends monitor this Freq. Approx. from 5:30AM-EST till usally after 1AM-EST in the morning hours. Here is a Small List of some of the local operators in Eastern Ohio.
Myself "575"-Walter
Rodney "245"...Scott-"243"...Phil-"202"...Tony-465"...Chris"3767"
There are many others on this Freq. as it is also the Trans-America Radio Groups home Call Freq. Your all invited to attempt to make contact with us, We would prefer no noise toys or rodgerbeeps if possible (with the exception of mobiles) Our local portables use rodgers beeps as it is quite hilly around here, and even if we don't here our XLYs its nice to here the beep when there done so as to answer them like we did !!! (saves a lot of argueing..LOL Looking forward to hearing from some of you.
Walter..."575" in Central Southern Ohio<- main call (TA-52750
