I am looking for a good in working condition Browning banana mic OR an element and contacts to replace one that I already have. Mic doesn't have to be mint or anything,... I just want one that works OK.

The radio is a R27 S23. I am using a D104 (amplified) on it and it works great.

However, the banana mic does key it, with no ping or swing, and you have to yell into the mic for any needle movement on the meter. I looked at the element inside and the silver is flaking off inside. I tried a Heil HC #5 element mod. on it but the radio will still not ping with the banana mic connected to it.

Contacts were cleaned too.

The Heil mod. does have good sound but no needle swing on my meter. All tubes are good.

Any suggestions/recommendations OR if you want to part with your rarely used, reasonably priced, banana mic I would much appreciate it. This old radio would be complete with it.

Thank you!

Have you adjusted the modulation in the transmitter? Since you are running an amplified D-104 it may be turned down too far for the unamplified mic.
