Hi Someone please determine if I bought someones returned radio,(purchased from ************.COM)

I just bought one brand new (Galaxy DX95T) and mine appears to have had modifications done to it, but I need someone's help to determine if it indeed was modified.
1. Radio came with the black wire under the circuit board unsoldered and resoldered one conection closer

Question, I can see the bit of wire still soldered to were it is supposed to be before a modification. Are these radios being shipped with this modification already done?

2. Radio has all of the channels described on the chart

Question, are these radios being shipped with these channels straight from the factory?

3. Component Q39 has been removed from the circuit board. Has been soldered right out of the radio. In the schematic its supposed to be there, In the photo of the bottom of the circuit board, I can see that Q39 remains intact because there aren't 3 holes in the board.

4. (My radio has this too) Dead center of circuit board, notice it looks like someone took a dremel and etched away the solder from a component so only 2 pins remain soldered to the board not 3.

HELP!!

Did I purchase a modified radio that was returned??

Please help, I may need to return the radio.

PS
The microphone was physically broken.

Creator,

Sounds like a lot of problems, I would suggest calling them.

Without looking at the Radio in Person there is no way to tell what anyone has or has not done to it.

Sounds like a Nitemare.

If it was me I would DEMAND A REFUND and then order a New one from Copper at a lower price.

Then you would know it would be right.

I just went to the website and it says
"THIS RADIO WILL COME TO YOU ALREADY PEAKED AND TUNED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE." It didnt say that before I bought it, the just updated the site.

Darn it! I wanted to do it! Someone else had ALL THE FUN!!

Believe it or not I'm actually upset, If I wanted it modified by a pro I would have paid extra. But I really only wanted to up the AM modulation only, seriously. I was OK with 50 watts power, I dont want to over-drive the radio.

And what the heck was Q39 revoved for? Can someone please tell me??

See the problem is I dont have an antenna yet and its going to be a while too before I get it, now I'll never know if it is broken somehow for a while.

The only indication that I am the first owner is that all the parts and peices that came with the radio were factory sealed..

Me again, the fool.

If the first message above seems to point to referances that are not there its because they have been removed by moderator.

Creator..

PS. What should I expect from a fully peaked and tuned DX95T? AM power? SSB Power? FM Mods? AM modulation? FM modulation? Extra Chanels?

Thanks Again.

Creator.

Well guys,

Take a lesson from me, only buy from copperelectronics.com, I couldnt wait and I HAD to have a DX95T at all costs (obviously). When I free up some credit on my card, I will make all antenna related purchases from copper. I'm goimg to call the folks over at Galaxy and see what there is to gain from removing Q39 from the board. I'll post there responce.

thanks again for your input.

What would i do with it if it was mine? Hook it up and try it out! If it doesnt work right call the place you got it from and tell them about it. Heres my opinions on overmodulation and splatter. Ive ran a lot of radios over the years that had the limiter removed and they all talked great and were loud liie i like them and with no bad signal reports.. IMHO the limiter removal deal is soooo very overrated. Yes you will get overmodulation and splatter -IF- you run a power mike cranked up all they way with the mike gain on teh radio wide open but if you use common sense and run the power mike just barely cracked with the mike gain set about 3/4 of the way open it will NOT overmodulate and it will splatter very little. This is how i run my equipment and it works very well for me. Just because someone removed the limiter does -NOT- mean the radio -WILL- immediately sound bad. It wont! It -WILL- sound bad if its not run right and with everything cranked open......
