Hi, I just bought a used RCI 2990. It came with a d 104 knight eagle power mike. The mike is very scratchy especially on the bottom key. Can anyone recomend a good desk mike that works well on ssb and my 2990. Thanks whitedove |

Hi Wendy, Rat-Shack has contact switch cleaner in a spray can. It's great for cleaning up switches, contacts, and volume pots that make scratchy noises and should solve the problem. Turner desk microphones are super for SSB/AM and most of the time can be found on ebay. Hope this helps. 73's |

Wendy, That is a great mic for that radio! Try cleaning the contacts, and I am sure you will be pleased with its performance!! |

The best item used for cleaning contacts: believe it or not ! A dollar bill. Prefered one that is fairly new. Crisp. Works like a champ. |

I had a Astatic 1104C desk mike that I ran with my 2990. I was pleased with the quality of the sound! |

Has anyone tried the "Expander 500" desk mic that Copper sells? |

Hey Bluesman, I have a +3B and really like how I sound, what is the differance butween it and the +3. I know the +3's have voice compression. What is the "B" stand for? Thanks, Rob |

I tried just about every mic I could find on my 2990 and the best...by far, was the Shure 526T Superpunch. |

I run a Sadelta Echo Master Plus on my 2995 and I think it sounds the cleanest on am and super crisp on ssb. Plus it tends to compliment the look of the radio where as the lolli pops dont quite match RCIs but thats just my opinion. |

My Turner Mic is the +3B, and all I get is compliments, like "Broadcast Quality", especially on SSB. I also had a Turner +3 and compared them on the air with two different radios (RCI 2985DX and Galaxy 2517DX) to a reliable source and the +3B sounded better every time. I have even heard my own radio using the 3+B with the better half talking to me at my friends house and it is awesome sounding. Sold my Galaxy with the +3 mic & that combo was LOUD. Just my 2 pennies |

Rob, the "B" that you were asking about on the Turner mikes means they have a 6 wire cord. I believe Turner started making these when some of the newer (and I'm talking many years ago) radios came along requiring another lead for the 5 pin mike plugs. I have just about every mike Turner made and I really like them. The SSK is my favorite but I run mostly SSB. Then again it's hard to beat a good D104 on any of the newer radios that have been properly tuned. Just my opnion! 73's Barry |

I have a Robyn desk mike that i absolutely love. I got it for like 10.00 and run it on my ranger 3500 and its one of the loudest mikes ive ever had on any of my radios. Everyone says it sounds awesome. Ive tried it on every radio i own and get the same reports.. Louder than my d 104 or my plus 2 and plus 3... Wierd but true.. |

I got a question does any manufacturers make a desk mike that has up and down channel button like the hand helds? I was looking at my old Shure desk mike all kinds of room to add the buttons, and add a 6 wire cord to it.
