OK Guys, Here goes. Q39 was a limiter for modulation. Removed. AM watts (High) Dead Key 60-70 watts 200 watts Swing. (Low) Dead Key 2 1/2 watts, 200 watts swing The same goes for SSB. Circuit board etching in center comes from manufacturer. That's about it. I overlooked the broken stock mic because I hooked up my TRUSTY Turner +3B! POW!! I cant even imagine the power that beckons before me. Just wait till I get the IMAX 2000 w/GPK, I'm going to smoke the neighborhood. This radio has the thickest power wires I ever saw on a radio. I hooked it up to an old Radio Shack regulated power supply that used to power up my old Uniden PC-244 w/ super bigstick, and I plugged in my computer speakers as the PA and did a mic check, this baby takes so much power, the lights dim when I speak. I probably need a 20 amp power supply with this. I'm in awe of this radio. And there SOOOOOOO many channels I dont know what to do with them, 40 channels on every band, plus AM, FM, USB, LSB. Theres Band A B C D E F G H! Sorry for freaking out yesturday.. Thanks for the help. Rob Liguori (Creator) |

I recommend you put the limiter back in and adjust the AMC for 95-100% modulation. David n9rzf |

Highlander, Will having the limiter removed effect FM & SSB as well as AM modulation? Do manufacturers usually use transistors as limiters? Creator |

Highlander, After reading the thread on clipping limiters, I want mine back in. You never hear people arguing if power mics make you sound better. I also read that there could be a pot to turn to get the circuit to work again also. Any help would be appreciated, I want to un-mod it myself. Creator |

Highlander, Is putting the transistor (2SC945) back in all it takes to get the radio to function properly? Is it as easy as soldering the thing back in or is it more involved? Creator.. |

Desolder the clipped pins you left behind and replace with a new 2sc945 miniding the direction of the transistor. Be careful not to create solder bridges to the wrong points when resoldering. |

My bad, I took it YOU removed the limiter, not someone else. It should still be replaced. Nice shop you chose there |

No kidding, Tech671. That kind of thing really annoys me. If it was my radio, I'd send it to a good tech and have an alignment done. Most places that chop and hack like that aren't going to touch the receiver side of things, just make it swing and send it out! The receiver alignment is the most important part, and can't be done without the proper test equipment. David n9rzf |

you know the deal guys! have a loose dosy meter, clip parts out of radio and put in as much harmonics as possible, drive transisters to saturation and BAMM your 10-8.lol |

Remember the etching of the trace on the board of one of the components, read on... Galaxy tech support writes this in response to my email: I looked at two DX95T radios here and they both look exactly like yours. I'm guessing that Ranger made a design mistake on paper and until they press out some new 95T main pc boards we will see that trace etched out. |

What if the 95T was just modified to CB and the power and moduation left in check just as it came from the factory? What kind of swing would it have and how about TVI? mikefromms |

Here is a bit of info you all may find interesting so I will pass it on, its my correspondance w/ galaxy about the limiter.... Hi Again, I received the Q39 (Modulation Limiter) and installed it flawlessly, thanks for the solder, it made the job even easier. I remember on the phone you mentioned to ask the company I bought it from if they removed a diode, I asked and they said no, but I wanted to know which diode to look for to see if they did remove one and they did'nt want to mention it. Just so I can double check. Also I wanted a way to verify if the modulation limiter circuit works. Can I simply adjust VR16 up or down and if there is an effect using this variable resistor that would mean the modulation circuit is working? Would adjusting clockwise increase AM modulation and adjusting counter-clockwise decrease AM modulation? Thanks, Rob Galaxy Response: The diode I was referring to was added to the solder side of the main pc board across the AM regulator labeled Q54 and yes, you should be able to adjust VR16 and see the peak power go up and down. This should really be set with a scope for best waveform.

It's time to cut through the chase, send that radio in to a tech that knows how to do a complete peak tune and alignment, as well as restore the mess that was ceated. Thats my nickle worth, you don't monkey around with 400 dollar radio's unles you know whats up. |

If it talks good with or without the limiter id leave it be. JMHO thats all... Now my question is this, does the 95T have the same power or more than the RCI 2970 DX? I read on the spects the 95 T has 2 2290 power pills.. I though it only had one.... |
