I did a search but couldn't dig up much information. I was wanting to put a mobile cb setup in my truck but I dont want something noticeable. Are there any antennas that replace the stock am/fm antenna? I realise they wouldnt work as well but its still worth it to me. How would you suggest I mount a cb so its not noticeable? I want to leave it in permanently because I cant bring stuff into work and its to much of a hassle to be carrying it back inside anyway. Or maybe i could just have something removeable and shove it under the seat so I wouldnt have to bring it inside. thanks for any tips! NOTE! Go to Subscriber (Preview)area here on the Forum and then click on Product Reviews and then Hump Mount. Read the Review I posted with Pictures. Works very well and easy to leave everything hooked up and take In & Out quickly! Hope this helps Lon Tech808

Spork There is a unit on the market that allows the AM/FM radio antenna to be used as a CB antenna. NO, it is not efficient as a regular CB antenna. The unit I am refering to has a means of tuning the antenna built in it. I have used this unit with nominal sucess on my mobils. Don't have manufacture or model available. Mounting the radio on the side of the seat is another option. This eases the need of taking it out all the time. I mounted mine under the seat. My reasons for doing as I have mentioned was because I would park my car in an open lot unattended for weeks at a time. I hope this has been a small help. |

Spork, This is the only disquise antenna company I know of in business anymore. www.sti-co.com Specifically check out this page http://www.sti-co.com/fender_mount_narrow.php for your antenna needs. I have used this company's antennas for over 15 years in hundreds of disquise installations and they are the KING of disquise. (Bruce should know of them..lol) The way it works...you call them and specify the make and model of your vehicle and the frequency(s) you need to cover and they supply you with an "original replacement" for your existing AM/FM antenna. It has a matching network at the base of the antenna to make it load up on your specified two-way band and an inline combiner box to allow you to hookup your AM/FM radio back to it. Hold on to your pocketbook...a price comes along with being disquise and having an efficient antenna.

hay spork I used to have a Clarion CB that mounted under the seat of your truck and all the channel, volume, squelch, etc knobs were on the mic. You had a choice of two antennas... 1. it came with a splitter so you could hook it up to your factory AM/FM antenna, 2. you could hook it up to a regular PL-259 connecter. I purchased this radio from my boss at the trucking company where I work. At one time he had these installed in all of his cars and pickups so he could hear what his drivers were saying while he was on a job with them and they never knew he had a CB!!! I think Cobra is making a CB like this now if I am not mistaken. E mail me so that I can have your E mail address and I will send you some more info. |

thank you for all the great advice. Would one of those hump mounts work with a s10 stick shift? Also I know this is a newbie question but how would I run the hookup wire for the radio or do i just use the cig lighter? |

Spork, I made myself a " slip seat box " out of a stanley 19" plastic tool box. A slip seat box is something truck drivers use when they have to change trucks alot. I cut out a rectangle hole on the side of the box and mounted the CB inside the box so that just the face sticks out of the hole. Next, I cut out a square hole, mounted an external speaker in there, and plugged it into the CB. Then I cut out holes for my cigarette plug power wire, and my antenna coax and ran each of those thru. All I have to do is plug in my antenna, plug in the power plug, and I'm ready to talk. It's completely portable and easy to carry. When I get the pictures back, I can show you. |

if you get the pre-soundtracker model of the cobra 75wx, you can easily modify it to cover 120 channels and it will still be covert |
