In the seventies, it was popular to switch the two 28 Mhz crystals for 27s on the 520.

Dan, Two 28MHz xtals?? My 520 has 3covering 28.00 to 28.6, 28.5 to 29.1 and 29.0 to 29.6MHz.

Cletus, give me a couple of days to look and I think I have the retune instructions (here in Oregon) for 27MHz on the 520. If not I'll have my father dig them out of my stuff still in Australia and email them to me.

Cletus (and Ozzie),
In the seventies, when enforcement was much more enthusiastic, we didn't have the courage to encroach near the ham bands. Three crystals can be replaced, but why go near the 10 meter band now?(Especially when getting a ham license is easy for any bored 2nd grader and becoming even easier thanks to the greedy ARRL). The 520 is an excellent radio, with only one driver and two output tubes, making it a true hybrid. Be careful of tune-up procedures, some tend to shorten tube life. If you need copies of a manual or schematic, let me know.
