James, Dont cut anything in that radio. It will sound like your talking inside a metal trashcan. Question, are you going to run the radio with an amp? If so then I would leave the radio as it is. If not then just turn up rf power, that's ok. 73's... |

James & Other's When I list Modification's or Tune Up Information for Radio's that is the Information I have on Hand from 30+ years of being in Radio. I try and help when and where I can with the information I have. THIS IN NO WAY MEAN's THAT I HAVE PERSONALLY TRIED EVERY MODIFICATION / TIP or TRICK OUT THERE! A lot of the Older Radio Modification's suggest Clipping the Modulation Limiter. While I post the Information that I have PLEASE Remember these are Only Suggestion's. I Personally have NEVER Clipped a Radio and I NEVER WILL. I have Never Found any reason to defeat the Modulation Circuit. Generally by adding a 1N4001 to 1N4004 Diode you can achieve the same results and avoid a lot of possible problem's. Always Remember when a person asks for tune up information on a Radio we the Tech's and other's will offer the advice / knowledge / experience that we have at hand. Our advice is to be taken only as a suggestion as there is no way we have had experience with every Radio or Brand / Model of Radio out there or that we have personally done / performed every modification. And PLEASE remember, always perform / try any Modification at YOUR OWN RISK! Without the Proper Equipment a lot of the Modification's / Adjustment's can effect the radio's alignment / performance. As I have stated many time's before, I will never state that I know everything about anything. I like all of you will continue to learn something new every day. I hope this help's to clear a few things up. Lon Tech808 |
