I'm thinking about getting this antenna to replace my A99...should I or shouldn't I. |

I looked it up it apairs to be a end fed 1/2 wave 3/4 wave total including 1/4 wave matching stub.
Buy a i-max from copper you cant go wrong with it and know you got a good antenna or chance this is going to be any better .... GAIN should run right at 3DBD. |

Hi Bruce, another antenna Clark could try is the Shakespear NBS2010 seems to be the equivalent of the imax as far as performance goes but doesn't bend as much in the breeze. On a 100 watt Kenwood I can talk to a station 100 miles to the south and this is ground wave, terrain is flat so this probably helps so my choice would be either Imax or Shakespear. Some people say you can't work dx on a verticle but don't you believe it, some times here (New Zealand)the Shakespear will get through when my 3 element yagi won't. |

As Murry knows there are a number of choices but keep in mind gain comes from changing lobes of enegry comming off the antenna and a 1/2 wave and a 5/8 wave only can produce so much change about 3 db worth. SO all of them will be close IF they are built right. |
