get the klv 40 watt amp. that would be the best logical way to make it sing at around that power range because its cheap, and you wont be stressing your finals in the radio by crankin the juice too high

My Suggestion would be the KLV-60.

Set Dead Key at 2 to 2 1/2 and away you go.

Check out the link below.

Trade it off and get a Galaxy DX 88 and have a good tech tune it up.
Then get an amp and you will have a real talkin' setup!!!!
Those 959s wotk pretty slick but you wont get the big watts like a regular galaxy. I know a guy that talks on a 959 thats slightly tuned and hes loud but he runs a little galaxy 80 amp behind it as well....

What is the swing on the KLV 60? Is it 60, 80 watts?

mike,

since you do not like to click on links here is the information on the KL-60

W90-00004 KL-60 Mobile Amplifier
$ 39.99

FEATURES:

Frequency: 25-30 Mhz

Input power:1-4 Watts

Output power: 35-70 Watts

On/Off Switch, AM/SSB Switch

Fuse 5A

AGAIN, I WOULD RECOMMEND NO MORE THAN 2 or 2 1/2 WATTS DRIVE MAX!

If you are looking for more power get a bigger Amp.

Hmm, I'd lay money on a 959 and KL60 spanking a DX88....
