Says that I can post this here.

I have almost 5 years expereiance hauling cement and cement additives in Pneumatic trailers. I know how to unload into most of the cement plants in the Los Angelas area. No accidents or tickets.

Currantly I'm fixing trucks and cars. I decided that I needed a Saturday job to help make ends meet since I'm off on weekends.

I applied at a local Cement hauling company not far from me, went on a test drive etc. They said they could use me on Saturdays to do some local runs......Mostly 30 miles or closer.

Then we sat down to talk pay. Dude offered me $.16 cpm! $.18 cpm after 90 days and they top out at $.24 cpm after 10 years with the company. If I stay a part time Saturday guy I stay at $.16 cpm regardless of how long I'm there.

I don't mean to sound ungratefull but $.16 cpm in traffic? Say I manage to do 3 runs @ 30 miles each round trip. (30 miles x 3 = 90 x $.16 = $14.00)

$14.00 for what easily could be a 8-10 hour day including loading and unloading time?

If I done the 540 mile Vegas loop I would make $86.40 and this loop takes 12-14 hours.

I politely declined their offer and the guy doin the hiring looked dumfounded. Geez I can make more than that flippin burgers.

Just seems weird that the worse the job the less $$ it pays. Anybody that has driven in LA's traffic even once will say that it should pay more than $.16 cpm.

Same for EMT's. These people save lives and are paid something like $8.00 per hour. They deserve more than that.

When I first got my CDL I got a job with a local company hauling cement in pneumatic trailers. We got paid by percentage of the load.....Which usually was close to $1.00 per mile local and $.50 per mile for the longer runs.

When I quit almost 2 years ago I was averaging $.27 cpm. Truckin must be the only business where you make less $$$ every year instead of more.

Does anybody know any owner opps? How are they doin $$$ wise.
