What model Shure? I have a 444-T wired 5 pin but I also own a 4 pin washington, but here is the four pin lay out and if you know what you are doing after you open up the bottom of the mic. you can figure it out by seeing what each wire is doing on the key up switch:
Pin 1= shield
Pin 2= audio: most times white or yellow the shield will be wrapped around the audio wire.
Pin 3= transmit: on the 444-T this wire is black.
Pin 4= Receive: with the Washington being relay switching you don't really need a wire on this pin, But again on the 444-T it is red.
if you microphone has an electronic- relay slide switch, it must be in the relay position. now if your radio doesn't transmit wired this way, reverse the red and black wire on the microphone plug.
This four pin wiring also works the same with Turner microphones. With Astatic microphones the red and black will be reversed. This old yankee boy has been playing with microphone wiring for 40 years and he hasn't been wrong yet.
