Where did you mount it and how big did you drill the center hole?? The center bolt cant touch anything. Sounds like a bad ground to me Buck |

RJ, You did not say where you mounted it so I will cover a couple of things. Get a Volt/Ohm Meter and check Coax. #1 ~ Place one lead on Center Pin of PL259 Connector and other end on Bare center wire of Coax. Reading shold peg meter. #2 ~ Next place one lead on Outer shell of PL259 connector and other lead on Shield of coax again Readiong should peg meter. #3 ~ The place one lead on Center Pin and other lead on outer shell of PL 259 and it should be "0" NO Movement of meter. #4 ~ If this checks out "OK" Then run a Ground wire from the Mounting plate Screw of Ball to Frame of Car/Truck. ALSO CHECK TO MAKE SURE you do not have any strand's from the Shield shorting out on the ball connector. Also any Coax will work for this type of installation. The better the grade of Coax the less chance of problem's. From what you describe it sounds like a Ground or Coax problem. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 |

i have a galaxy radio in my pickup truck with a 102 and i have 1.2 swr. i've been told that's good for 102. Try a L? bracket mounted to the bed with a regular stud mount connection. The right spring should scrue right into the stud and whip. |

Sounds like you've got a short between the center wire and the outside shielding. Check at each connection first to make sure the wires are not touching. Second place would be the grounding connection for the whip. Check to make sure you have a good ground. Metal to metal. |

i think Buck hit it on the head. The bolt is touching the frame of the truck. the center bolt is touching something. |

The center bolt is what the center lead from your coax is attached to. It needs to be insulated from EVERYTHING except the antenna. Follow 808's advice then check the antenna mount itself where the antenna threads in for the same ohm readings he gave you for the coax. |

Ok...The center hole that you drill must NOT touch anything but the plastic spacer and the coax. The three outer bolts are what holds the ball mount to the truck. Here is a pic for you to look at. You can print this off ant use it for a template. Just make sure that middle hole is big enough that it dosent touch any part of the truck. I will send you a pic because I cant get it to load. Buck
