Anybody know the suggested "from top of tower to connect at boom" point for the Shooting Star [for mast length]? The more the better obviously, but I was wondering what the manufacturer suggested. This would be a question related toward the vertical elements. I want to avoid the vertical elements interfering with the tower, wacking out the swr. I appreciate all comments, but would like to hear from actual users of this package. |

Kirk, I had the MoonRaker 4's which is the same antenna basically, and from top of tower to the boom was about 3'. Just keep the verticle elements away from the tower and you will be fine. 431 |

kirk: I had a willson laser 400 up on my rohn free standing tower up at my old place and it was up at about 55 foot and thats at the mounting point witch is at the boom to mast plate and that put the ant. 3 foot above the tower and the instructions with the ant. said that it would'nt hurt the tuening of the ant. the only they said is make sure the tower is strong enough to support the ant,and is rated for the wind load along with rotor handling cap. and besides the vert. elements are at least 3-4 foot from the mast/tower at each end and with a shooting star ant I think the elements are the same as my laser 400 at least the ones that are the closest to the tower/mast mine was set up with a 2" pipe with a wall thickness of 1/4 " and the mast was 5foot long 2 foot inside the and the rest above the tower |
