when I lived in Reno, NV there was a person who was not very friendly on the radio. He was always getting drunk and once he was full of liquid courage, would swear, throw dead carriers, drive the drivers and us locals crazy. So a cb/ham operator made a device that was real small,,,it was placed in close proximity to his house, within 1/4 mile. When he would key up on ch-19, it would start a audio carrier that was intermittant,,it was like a pulse for 5-7 minutes, he would key up again and once again get this pulsating tone, is the best way to describe it. Needless to say he cleaned up his act, and started to come around. So now I am in willamette valley and have the same problem. the person who made that "toy" has passed on,so now I am looking to get something of the same concept made. Any ideas? JPT.

Getting involved in radio/11 meter/ or ham bands is fasinating and fun. After you have talked for a period of time you will start to recognize that there are quite a few different types of "operators" of radios. Those who hack their radios to death and bleed over everyone in a 5 mile radius, those who have every noise toy known to the radio world, those who run 500 watts to talk to their buddy one mile away. And then their is the responsible operator who learns about their hobby, transmits with appropriate power to communicate, learns about technical terms and their meaning, becomes familiar with properties of radio, knows who Marconi is and the theroy of radio. Be responsible, leave the noise toys to the kids and trouble makers. Spend your money on a quality mic or heavy coax. Or a book on the history of Marconi. Just a thought. Flame away

Thanks for your input, I have been talking on the radio for well over 30 years. I know very much that there are unresponsible people as well as the next. Here in Oregon (willamette valley) we have been playing fox hunts, tag, and a base/mobile contests for 8 years, every weekend, there may be as many as 60 people involved at one time. The issue is, if we can't get him to quit keying up on us,,,then we want to take away his "ears", if he cannot hear what is going on,,then he will get the hint to play fair. Anyone else want to comment?, JPT. |

Has anyone tried one of these?ubiquitous 555 timer chip+ try taking a look at the ubiquitous 555 timer chip - one could rig the thing
so that it would key up a radio upon recieving a carrier that was above a
certain level - something like taking the signal from the s-meter and using
it for a trigger signal works real well, and ensures that only the local
area gets qrmed. naturally, the interval it keys up for is up to the
builder, with the 555. Another interesting thing is , that if this is placed
real close to the guy's house, very little power will be needed to operate
it. a motorcycle battery would last a long time at a 100 milliwatt
level.......... and if close enough, would give him 20-over s-9. Think i
remember someone doing this once, but cant remember just who it was... <g>

Belive it or not I have the same problem by me right as we speak and write about this. The guy by me jumps on the home channel of me and about 30 other people scattered about in Duchess Country. He has been kicked out of several other cities in NY for the same thing that someone told me. He runs heat and must spatter his neighbors. I have recored him and I am going to send it to FCC. But he comes on the channel talks trash about everyone, calls people names and swears up a storm. It is just so frustrating. Any help in taking care of this problem. What could I do?????? Help.. All suggestions open thanks. This happen on every FRIDAY and SATURDAY.
