Hi everyone, just purchased a new (leftover '03) automobile and would like to put in a CB. I have a few radios around but.....this car has a small (4-5"wide,3"high,6"deep) cubbyhole in the dash-inside of which is a 12volt 150watt power supply plug! What a perfect spot for an itty bitty radio to drop right in......anyhow let me know of any decent new or old CBs you all would recommend to "fit" the bill. Thanx-Lee

Uniden pro 510 has my vote... If you get one set up right they can talk -REALLY WELL- for what they are!!!!! Most people make fun of the 510 because it is so small and mud duck looking and has only a couple of buttons until they hear one and ask "What kind of radio are you talking on? you sure sound good!!" :^)

Cm38,

You're right, it's not fancy by any stretch, but they work fine. I did an install for a guy years ago with a PRO510XL and 102" whip. No trouble talking 15-20 miles barefoot. It ain't the radio, it's the antenna!

I had one once that i ran on the base (as a joke i was pulling on a few of my dumb locals that were easy to fool) with a silver eagle into a TX star DX 667V on a 75 amp power supply into my moonraker 4s at 40'.. LOL! Talked on that set up for over a month (did it just for kicks!) before anyone asked what i was running!! LOL!! Told them a 510 and no one belived it until one of them came over and bought a radio off of me and saw that little 510 XL hooked inline!!!!! LOL!!!!

Keith,

I hate to tell you this, but a Properly Tuned Uniden Pro 510 will sound no different on the other end than your PC76 or Most other Mobile's & Base's out there.

I can put my PRO 510 or TR121 CP on the power supply and No One can tell the difference as I use the SUPERSTAR DM-452 on everything.

The TR121CP does have a little better receive though.

Cobra makes a decent little remote unit for the "discreet look" cant remember the model # . Cool little radio though. All the controls are on the hand mike. Too bad you cant drop a little Alinco or Yeasu in there.

if you get a 75wx, go with a used pre-sountracker model so you have the option of modding it for 120 channels
