OK, JUST GOT e-mail from wa4gch and it appears it is changing "Subject's as well as the Attachment" name.

I called Bruce and he did not send it as he was also gone.

Someone on Forum has it and does not know it.

BE VERY CAREFUL AND DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENT's!!!!!!!!!

FORUM MEMBER's CHECK YOUR COMPUTER's!

It appears that a COPPER FORUM MEMBER has this VIRUS on there COMPUTER and it is attaching itself to thier e-mail list!

Stop and Think if you have written / e-mailed myself ~ TECH808 or Bruce / wa4gch, TECH181, and or the FORUMMASTER, it could be your computer that is infected.

NOTE!

THE COPPER FORUM IS SECURE FROM THIS VIRUS!

It is ONLY SPREAD thru someone's e-mail list and is on Thier Computer!

It attack's a person's e-mail list and generate's e-mail's with attachment's and Changes the Sender's Name, Subject and Attachment's so it is never the same.

Check your Computer's folk's someone has it and does not know it.

IF YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE OF WHO SENT IT TO YOU and what it contain's "DO NOT OPEN ANY ATTACHMENT'S!

It is very simple, Someone does not have an Anti Virus program on their computer and opened an attachment at one time with the Virus in it.

Now the Virus has attacked their e-mail list.

That is how it is spread and probably the person that has it has NO IDEA that it is in their computer.

With out an Anti Virus Program they might never know about it.

And it will continue to do this until it is removed.

That is because you are so Popular and you get More e-mail than we do.

And you have been around longer, and more people have your e-mail address on their computer's.

Onnnnnnly kidding! Hope the source can be found before too much damage is done.

Well,I've gotten them both from dx431 and bruce and also crafter and no viruses, norton scans coming in and going out,and I just love the attachments they send, some of the coolest I've seen,if you don't have an anti-virus and have windows you are just asking for trouble,my dad-in-law has windows 98 and had to take his tower in for repair and installation of anti-virus,he had 5 viruses and 3 worms and a trojan, needless to say it was locked up but good, but it's fixed now.

The problem is unless all 2630 Copper Forum Member's check their computer's or install a Virus Protection Program they will never know they have it.

Until this is done I am afraid this will continue to spread.

And the person who has it is probably completely un-aware they have it on their computer.

Installing the virus program is only a start...the members who know how should try to determine the the name(s) of the files that are creating the viruses and share that info so we can all look for them manually on our harddrives. Not all anti-virus softwares are alike and therefore doesn't catch every virus.

I am a computer illiterate, but you say that it has to be someone from the forum, does this mean it has to be someone sends you an e-mail? Because I sent an e-mail to tech 808 a long time ago, and also I think Bruce but I am not sure but it has been awhile ago, I have Mcfee antivirus thru AOL, so I do not think it is me, my antivirus runs every morning at 02:00 am. but it has not found anything yet!
Just my thoughts and questions from 1 illiterate computer user.

Hornet, I have never used Mcaffee, as I use Norton.

I would guess it is someone who has no Virus protection or does not get the daily or instant Update's.

There are so many virus's out there coming out every day that a GOOD UPDATE system is a MUST.

Believe it,if your rig has system restore and you get a virus in the restore files before you get an anti-virus,to keep from reinfecting your main drive you must turn off system restore as none of the anti-virus programs currently available,as far as I know, can remove it.I bought my norton when I bought my computer, thus my system restore is clean, thought I'd throw that out there.Bigbob

been sent the netsky virus x6 this week so far...my AV program picks em up and sends em to the vault...using AVG antivirus...new to me...used to use norton (system resourse hog)...seems the AVG program works well without a large drag on the system resourses....

interestingly,,most of the infected files are in a *.zip format.....

Is it possible to forward the infected emails to your anti-virus s/w provider and let them determine the fix? Where's their customer service commitment stop?

I keep getting "Avenue A" what is it? Its being blocked but man I sure get it alot, BigBob your right on the infected files in restore, I use Norton and The Trend Micro "house calls" its free on-line scan between the two I stay clean. No ONE virus protection in my opinion can do it all I have found virus's after running norton before but house call got it, a sneaky trojan.

A good way to tell if your the one with the virus is to add AAAAAAAAAA@nowhere.com to your addressbook and if it comes back as undeliverable yourit. dont send it yourself if you have a virus it will send itself .
