On Ebay a new Bird 43 1000H element sold for $112.50 plus $4.50 shipping. Considering retail on these elements is $90 someone isn't very bright. Someone needs a hug!!! |

It's just like going to an auction out in the real world or an estate sale. The bottom line you have to know what it cost for a new one. And then go from there! I had a friend who was selling some thing on a web sight, he had buy it for ($65.00) and some one bid $70.00 hummmmm now that is kinda off a bit. I told him the guys cheese slid off his cracker a tad bit. Some one needs a hug, or take it to the next level!!!!!!(LOL)

I would agree that sometimes radios sell for more than their price new. Especially at copper electronics. I have seen radios sell for more than their catalog price. Thats alittle strange. But I have purchased several radios that are what I would consider great value. A Regency INFO CB-2 NIB for $26. and change. A Stalker Teaberry with mic and hump mount speaker for $16.and change and both of those are with shipping. A Cobra 138XLR with ext speaker and three way antenna selector for about $45......... with shipping. Thats not too bad. But there is also junk on eBay. I have gotten two radios that were DOA. With Copper you have a customer service base. With eBay, you are either lucky or you get a hacked DOA radio. Good luck. I like to purchase the radios that are not in production anymore. Kind of fun..... |

I seen a president madison go for $375.00 on ebay once. I thought it was kind of crazy too. It wasn't even new in the box. Had the extra speaker too but not for that price.

If you are informed, Ebay is a great place to buy radios. I bought a like new 1991 Cobra 148 GTL with a new mike , power cord, hardware, and bracket for $130 including shipping. This radio had a flawless appearance and it was unpeaked and unmodified. The description said "Minor scratches on the face and covers".......I couldn't find any and I modded the radio with a variable key that keyed 2 bird watts swinging to 10 bird 43 watt. I once bought a radio that was described as unmodded and unpeaked but the clarifier had a huge range plus was unlocked. To me unlocking a clarifier on a radio without a freq counter is stupid. I have had great luck overall on EBAY, but I know what stuff is worth. |

Due to being in the sticks I use it to point to busy area's as for listening, It takes doing but I can listen to two of them at one time. The 800 mhz sure comes in handy with all the other things! LOL! Have a few towers around here I listen too. Got them all stacked on top of each other now. Trying to get me a PRO2006 now. Also trying to prove to wife I NEEDED THEM! URAH! |

Radio's and Radio Equipment is like everything else in life. What is worth $100.00 to one person may be worth $1000.00 to another. If a person buy's something, No matter what the Cost and they are Happy, then that is all that count's.

Thank you KB. Does that include OREO's for Desert? hehehe The 1st Sargant was a BIG HELP in getting Everything set up as I was Under Shelves and Under Floor feeding Coax and Wire's to her and she was Marking Everything So I would not forget which went to what. And Outside is Even worse, I have all of the Coax Running down the Tower from the Antenna's and then into 2 1/2" PVC pipe with Elbow running into house. So with 5 peices of COAX coming up thru floor, I also MARK THEM VERY WELL and PAINT THE PL259's DIFFERENT COLOR's so that I do not make a Mistake. As I get Older my Memory get's shorter. |

My take on Ebay is lots of junk and ripp off sellers,I have watched over the last few months radios take turns going from fair pricing to the outrageous.Sorry guys but like some of you I owned Brownings,Regency,Trams,Couriers and Layfattes when they were new,I won't pay more for them used, with bad tubes and worn out parts just because they are old. I have noticed lately that some of the really over priced stuff is going unbid for,I hope to see alot more of that happening. Some bozo just put a Courier 23 up with a reserve of 100.00 and a buy now of 250.00 He wants to buy more Brownings ! I saw a 49.00 Browning Trans switch go for 250.00 Suckers and Idots with more money than brains. |

I had a 101ex that was working but weak tubes I parted it out for welln over 400.00 buy just listing each part correctly. Try to get 400.00 for a good 101ex! Going to do another one here soon just getting it apart now. |
