I wished I was kidding Yankee, but I am not. It goes on the floor next week. I wished I had more info I am looking for the info right now, if I find it I will post a link to it. It is the hottest subject right now on XM Radio, channel 171 open road. I wished it were that simple Ozzie, but it is hard to get a tractor trailer up most of these back roads, and to sometimes it is illeagle to travel off the beaten path. Hornet |

http://www.landlinemag.com/todays_news/Daily/2004/Mar04/032604.htm House committee passes $275 billion highway bill The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee March 24 approved a six-year, $275 billion highway and mass-transit spending bill. The legislation was $100 billion under what many members of the panel said was needed for the nation's deteriorating transit systems and highways. The Bush administration, citing red-ink budgets and opposition to tax increases, proposed a transportation bill of $256 billion and threatened to veto anything higher. In February, the Senate passed a $318 billion bill. According to press reports, the full House plans to take up its version, possibly by next week, and the differences in the bills would have to be worked out by a House-Senate conference committee. Meanwhile, the committee also inserted into the bill a provision allowing Congress to take another look at the measure again in two years, when a stronger economy might warrant a boost in spending. Rep. Don Young, R-AK, had proposed paying for the larger bill by raising the federal gas tax, which has stayed at 18.4 cents per gallon over the past decade, by about 5 cents. This is the bill that includes this ridiculous idea in it. This is all the info I have found on this if anyone else finds out more please post where to look for it thanks. Hornet |

Well just to let you all know, the bill passed, but it passed with a add on, called the kennedy admendment. This will make it a voluntary toll lane, added to a existing hiway. Also it says that the toll must be removed after it has paid for itself. I would have to THANK XM radio for delivering this news about it since none of the other news station decided it was important enough. |
