Nope not here!

The 1st Sargant enjoy's radio as much as I do and she has her own equipment.

She is alway's Polishing & Cleaning and keep's everything Spotless.

She even keep's a Large Ziplock Bag over her Silver Salute Desk Mic so that NO dust will get on it when not in use.

Guess I am very lucky to have a Wife that enjoy's everything that I enjoy.

They are mostly all the same in that manner, just give them fresh water a pet once in a while and it will work out.

Hey Pp1616, I went through the same thing at first but now that she's got a hobby like putting together scrapbooks and pic's and so fourth, I haven't been feeling so guilty lately. It's only when they kick us to the doghouse that we might have to chill out! LOL!!! Oh well, my dog loves me unconditional!! Ha!!!!

Mine wife encouraged me to get back into the radio hobby. So far it has been nice. She does't talk at all on them, but she will sit and listen to the rag chewing

I don't have that problem either! My wife knows that I am always going to have a hobby and this is the best one I have ever had,at least I am around the home 20 more than I was when my hobby was DuneBuggies.Might be time to upgrade to a more radio friendly Girlfriend. :-)

That's very true rob5mike! At least it's spent at home. Not money wasted in bars or out doing whatever. It's not that bad sometimes. I guess it's a hobby that actually doesn't make much sense unless you know can understand it. I've pretty much put in terms as this. Imagine sticking an antenna on the house and putting a radio in the house and talking halfway around the world without paying for it whether it be internet, cell or regular phone useage. Hmm? I'd rather key a radio up than yack on the phone for hours! Ha!!!!

i tend to put the 11 meter equipment away if im not traveling or have no friends locally to chat with. right now a lot of people i know are getting them in their mobiles so thats that much less cellphone time wasted for them on the road. we are also getting into summer so CB hide and seek, or capture the radio flag games are happening a lot more now. just get some fun stuff like that going in your area and she might be a little more into it

Before I could tell that my girlfriend was a little jealous even tho she never said anything, but I put a radio in her car so she could talk to me and she likes it alot now. I think she likes the attention that she gets from the truckers around here. Everytime a female voice keys up, the truckers all line up to talk.

Oh man they go NUTSO!!!!! I used to date a girl a few years ago and she had a CB in her car and they would actually find the channel we were on (they would see her talking on the radio through the windows) and try to talk to her when she was talking to me!!! It was hilarious!!! LOL!

Mrs 833 loves old antique tube type radios. Maybe even more than me. So, as long as my radios have tubes in them, Mrs. 833 likes them too. I don't talk on the radio, I like listening to SW mostly. Mrs. 833 doesn't even mind the 1937 Crosley SW radio on the bookcase headboard over our bed. As soon as I plopped a solid state radio there for some LF listening, she had a fit. Put a Hallicrafters there and she is fine- as long as it glows in the dark and smells like tubes anyway. I need to find a tube radio that goes down to 10 kHz......

So does Mrs Ozzie. IN fact I'd love to find her an old Siltronics like she used to own..
Tech 833 look for a MArconi Atalanta.Picked one up a few years back, refurbished it and ended up with a radio that was great. Running into a 15ft wire strung inside it would receive stations better than my IC-706 or FRG-7 running into external antennas.

Unfortunately too heavy to bring from Australia with me. Sigh...

She gave me an altamadum.....

She's gone. The radio is still here, so you figure it out.:-) NEVER tell me what to do. I take orders from one man, And thats me. Besides, the radio was worth more.

I think you have to find a way to include your significant other. I take my girlfriend to the
" O-Kay Corral " with me. That's where all the big CB boys and girls meet every Friday night here in Chicago.

If it's not radios then it's something else. Seems they always want to complain about you smothering them, and then when you start paying attention to something else to give them space then you are ignoring them.

It wasn't my radios that killed my marriage, it was my computer. What she never took into account was that the hobby that I had before we even got together would end up being a rather good money maker for me 2 years after we split (lack of money was another thing we always fought about).

Oh well,

Rule #1 - You can't please them.
Rule #2 - When in doubt, see rule #1.

I have been playing in one band or another for many years. We usually played two weekends a month for a bunch of years. Even took my wife out on the road for a week two years ago so she could see what it really was all about. (hard work) I can assure you my wife would rather have me playing with my radios late at night in the basement then getting home between 3 & 4 AM after a gig. I still do the odd pick up gig and partys but that's it for now. I'm happy (and so is she) playing in the basement late nights with my radios! She is very understanding too. Although I have some new equipment I have a couple of "high maintenance bit****" (Brownings) that require a bit of $$ to be spent on "em from time to time. I just put my old 2950 in her truck and she is having fun with it. I feel very lucky to have her.

My wife hates radios and always makes sarcastic "radio widow" remarks. Fortunately, she is very tolerant. I have a lot of CB radios, Ham gear, and old broadcast radios from the 20s and 30s all over in the house and garage. She retaliates by purchasing old treddle sewing machines and pinball games. As space is becoming a premium, I guess we will have to agree to a truce.
