Hawk1,

I would stick with the STOCK GP KIT as it was designed for Maximum Performance with the Imax 2000 and will work well with other antennas as well.

I have a friend across town who uses the stock g/p kit on his Imax. He says the g/p kit made a noticable difference in his ears. He is about 70 feet in the air and I can hear him 30 miles away on a mobile loud and clear. He commented the other night that if he had to choose between his Maco 3 element and his Imax he would choose the Imax. That says a lot. If I ever get an Imax, I will get the stock g/p kit as well. I'm convinced now that I've read and heard enough of them. Another guy 18 miles north of me runs one and he sounds like he has beams.

The Imax is an excellent choice.

Now I am considering getting the G/P kit for mine. I didn't think that from what I heard that it made alot of difference in performance. I am about 75 feet at the base of the IMAX. So to the tip its nearly 100.... Would the G/P kit make that much difference. I am generally running between 4 and 15 watts.

From what I'm reading and hearing it will cut down receiver noise quite a bit. Also, on out in the distance it does help some. It cuts back on TVI as well.

Difficult to expect any huge difference since you are already so high above ground level. It will help quiet the receive as stated above.

Plus.... How can you pass up the thrill of climbing up there and sitting at 75 ft in your safety harness?? :-)
