Hi I am a new member.. And would like to say high to everyone.. My question is thier is a rummor that the s-3 will not work on a 2 pill unit.. which i would call a 250 watt.. this pill term is new to me. i always called them finals.. this is my question why will a 500 watt linear work on the s-3, but not on a 250.. this is not logical.. the only thing i can see that would remotely cause you trouble is the 1 watt dead key..help me here thanks- |

I love talking cb I am obsessed and have been for 14 yrs..lol I growl a bit sometimes but I never mean anything by it.. Anyone that talks citizens band is my bro..although some of them are just like family you wished they werent heheheh..Tech 808 dont take this wrong.. I read the review but one of my flaws is always asking why and what if...Ok say i would buy a snown cap amp, i will need a driver, so i wont be able to run the driver in order to run the bigger amp see what i am getting at here.. Or is this simply a final change? in any event i can still only push 25 30 watts in to my big amp... And what is the warning about? damage to the s-3 or the amp? thanks again i enjoy reading everthing seya purp |

The MAGNUM S-3 and OMEGA FORCE S-45 was Not designed to be used with any Amplifier with a Pre-Amp in them. It is jsut too much power going into them and blows them. The warning is for the Amplifier's as unless you back the WAY DOWN you will chuck most Amps on the first key up. From my Review: USE WITH AN AMPLIFIER This radio as well as the Omega Force S-45 was designed to work with a 4 pill Amplifier like the Texas Star 500 or Similar Amplifier that uses 4 - 2SC2879's. "DO NOT ATTEMPT" to run the Magnum S-3 or the Omega Force S-45 with any 2 PILL Amplifier! Also if you use the Magnum S-3 or Magnum Omega Force S-45 with an Amplifier that uses an Exciter/Driver you MUST have the radio adjusted for a Dead Key of 4 watts and NO More than 12 watts PEP. It is Highly Suggested that you have a professional do this. If you make a Post in the Manufacturer's Question's Area and Mention Exactly what kind of Amp you want to use and it's Specs, Sam will probably be able to help you more with this. Both the S-3 & S-45 were designed for Maximum Performance, and it would be a shame to have them backed way down for Amp Use. Lon Tech808
