Gentelmen, Maybe one of you can help me with a problem I have. This amp kicks butt on Low, but I can't get over about 200, 250 on High. Also one of my Tubes glowes a little less than all the others. If I put one of the tubes that glows well in that socket it too goes dim. The problem area is in the 4 final tube area. All the tubes test at 95% plus. It has 2 6LF6 Tubes Driving 4 6KD6 Tubes. Could this be a blown resister?

Kwick_73,what do you mean one glows less than the others?are you refering to the filiment?if so swap all the tubus around EXCEPT the one currently in the socket that glows less, now what happens?on the 300a the tube filiments are wired in pairs;1-2,3-4,5-6.I have a suspision one of the other tube's filiments has a higher current draw than the others due to an internal short.does one glow brighter than the others?there is no resistor that if bad would affect only one tube going by the schematic I have in hand right now.you never said in your post what kind of output you were getting on low.on the 300a in low stage the two drivers;v1 and v2 are bypassed and only running the 4 in the final stage,v4 through v6.perhaps this info will shed light on the problem.would have answered sooner but was gonna leave it for one of the experts which i am not.

On Low I am Dead keying about 50 swinging about 150, which I think is really good for this amp. But the glowing tube problem, If I move the tube the problem follows it?. What do you think my problem might be? I ordered a new 6KD6 tube to try to see where this might put me.
Thank you Dindin for answering me

I know this doesnt have to do with the 300A but i have a skipper 300. on high it does about 100 watts key and swings to about 450. On low it does 25 swins to 125. Is this normal for the amp? The guy that sold it said he saw it modulate to 550 to 600.
