Jon666,

Imax 2000 is .64 wave and A-99 is 1/4 wave.

As for bleedover I have never noticed any difference on bleedover from Corncob who is less than 1/8 mile from me when he was using his A99 before he got the Imax 2000.

Unless he is 1 or 2 channels away from where I am I hear nothing from his Stonewall Jackson on the Imax 2000 he is using.

With his Imax 2000 he does get out a lot stronger and has much better receive than when he had his 99 up.

Hope this help's some.

Lon

Lon.

A eighth of a mile?? LOL. He would bleed at that distance if he was using a coat hanger tied in a tree.

Jon666.

As far as the 99 and I-Max go, you couldn't pay me to go back to the A-99. There is little to no RF slop with the I-Max as long as the base of it is at least a full wavelength (36') in the air.

The thorough review that was done on those two antennas should be enough to convince anyone as to which is the better built and which is the better performer--hands down. ANY true 5/8 wave will outperform a 1/4 wave. For just talking across town, the 1/4 wave antenna will work fine. But if you like talking distance (non skip), nothing so far to date beats a 5/8 wave.

By the way, ANY antenna can be a bleeder if mounted too low.

Jeff.

The A99 is a 1/2 wave, not a 1/4 wave.

If you don't have the money for an Imax 2000, the A99 would be a good choice. If you can afford it, go straight for the Imax 2000 and don't look back.
