Good Day ratchet jawers... I am new here, and getting BACK into CB'ing, after a few years off.

I am looking for a NEW mobile radio. Here is what i am looking for. something less than $100.00 BUT, One that i can add lower channels to later. I plain to run a linear later, say 250-300 palomar.
I've heard the NEW Cobra's are junk.
Are either of these good reliable radios.
Uniden pc68xl - pc78xl, Texas Star 161....?
HELP?

uniden makes many fine radios for under 100.00
I have a friend that uses a Uniden 510 xl that sounds fantastic. People say that his radio sounds like "a big radio".
He uses a palomar on the side when he needs that extra punch.

Nice small radio, not alot of extras.

I have seen them for sale around $40.00

I have three. They are great and tune up great.

If you want a nice cheap radio then get a good used Cobra 148GTL. They are all over the place like Ebay and some CB shops.. But get the pre 1996 model that was made in the Phillipenes. The soundtrakers are horrible on quality..

since you mentioned Uniden pc68xl - pc78xl I would guess you only want AM and no SSB.If so yes they are good radios and Coppers also carries the Texas Ranger 396F which is very easy to get extra channels and is also a good radio.
