Has anyone tried this COPPER 'mini tuner'? (my words)
For only $23, it hardly can be expected to compare with a more expensive tuner, but I'm intrigued by the modest price and the 300 Watt capability.

Comments?

Watch how much power you put into it. Don't exceed the limit or pow!

I never exceed 200 Watts at the most anyway. Never seem to need more than 75W or 100W

I bought one a while back to play with it for tuning a longwire to a SW receiver.

They are merely a coil and two variable caps. One tunes a small amount of reactance, the other can change resistance.

First the bad news-

I had trouble with the variable caps getting real tight toward the clockwise tuning direction. The knobs would rotate on the shafts. I ground some flats ont he shafts and used different knobs with 2 set screws. Also, if you have to tune either cap counter-clockwise real far, the screw will fall out.

Now, the good news!-

I will tell you this, it will match a wide variety of loads. It does its job well! Unfortunately, it also reflects the low cost in the useability.

For the money, it is a good tuner. I would likely buy another if I needed it.
