I would like to know, how many forum members out there prefer amps with no drivers, such as a 2 pill configuration or quads (4 pill amps), as opposed to the Hot boxes with either a 1 pill as a driver, or even 2 pills as drivers. I would also like to know from your experiences, which type of amp is more reliable, stable (At least electronically) and "Why" do you prefer to use one or the other. I'm sure that I'm going to get an education from all of this, meaning from your answers, so let's get the ball rolling. As usual, thanks in advance.

Well, I was hoping to get some information on the pros and cons of either amps, so if any techs, or any forum members can provide at least 1 answer to this topic, it would be most appreciated.

Wolverine I think you have more options you can use your driver for loco talk or flip the switch an talk Skip.Or if you can adjust your radios power output you can put one in your truck if your useing a mobile amp like I do an still use your big amp in the house. Hope this helps CEF178 |

ok, ill give it a shot for ya!!first, i like the xforce and mega force brand of amps.. the x for good am modulation, and the mega for its b biasing for ssb!!to me in my opinion, there a good piece of equipment for the money.. now i no there are others out there that wood go for something else, but like i said, in my opinion!! lol.. i like the 1x4 or the 2x8, which i use?? the 1x4 is the mega amp in the mobil, using a gallexy 99 to drive it with, i get a dk of 200 on the amp and a swing to 800 on am pep!! on the 2x8 which i have on base with a xforse 150 amp unregulated power supply, and using a 2985dx rci radio to drive, i get a dk from amp of 450 and at times a swing up to 2600 watts pep.. this is all on a sx100 diamond meter, with swrs around 1.2 to 1 or lower?? i also have and use a klv 4 tube type
amp. i drive it with a 2995dx rci and on high it does about 350 dk with a swing of about 12 to 1400 pep, agin on th sx100 meter!! now as far as stable, all the amps mentioned have not gave me one iota of trouble, very reliable and easy to use, if you have any working knowledge at all of the operation of amps?? lol.. biggest thing on pill amps is to get your swrs down below a 1.4, they seem to work better there?? also watch your dk amount, i use the 1 to 4 ratio!! if my amp swings to 1200, i set the dk, using the radio rf power knob, to were the dk is, 300, and let itswing from there!! im sure if others respond, youll get more to go on?? hope this helps some??
