Ok, a bunch of the guys have told me to get a power mic. Great, wonderful, yahoo!! But here's the thing, do they even make a power mic for the ladies? I saw one on the products page but it was all sold out :-( ! I would love to have one, but the one that CM put in my car is too big for me to hold. Any suggestions out there??

Moonshadow,

Check out the DM-452 Hand Mic that Copper Carries.

If it is too big get a Roll of Duct Tape.

Margie gave me this tip as she also has small hands and uses it on KB.

Tape the Mic to your XL's forehead and when you want to talk WHACK HIM and it will key the mic.

She says it works great on KB and even gets rid of Unwanted Feedback.

Is that a pretty small mic to hold onto wendy? We were looking at something similar to that this weekend and it was quite big.

I don't know. Maybe I have big hands. I have no problem holding that particular mike. However, I am looking to get the mike Shirley is talking about.

As you all know, I sell food for a living. However, I am always on the lookout for new opportunities to "sell" something.

Based on the posts above:

Have I got a DEAL for each of you. Buy one or more of my 25 foot cordless extention cords, and I will throw in a FREE roll of Duct Tape for your microphones!!!! The Cordless Extention Cords come in 25 or 50 foot lengths. The Duct Tape is a 50 foot roll. What a DEAL!!!!

She wants a power mike to get more audio from the radio (it sounds soft with the stock mike) plus she doesnt have to swallow the mike like you do a stock mike.
I run a stock mike on my RCI 2970DX and thats the only mike i can really run.. LOL Ive had the radio "pumped up" so to speak and the radio doesnt really need the amplifcation from a power mike !!!

LOL!! That's what Eric (CM3885) told me to get a can and some string, but I took Shirley's suggestion by duct taping the mic to his head. When he suggested that, I was just able to smack the mic and not his head!!! :-)

KB, I knew you were only kidding, but I am still waiting on my free KB doll!! ;)

Moonshadow,

Kathy, dont let some of these posts deter you from getting / trying a power mic.

Lon and I have been in the Radio Hobby for over 30 years and about evey radio we have had or used I have had to put a power mic on for good results.

Some of us women do not have the 500 lb GORILLA voice that some of the other gender have and we DO NEED to add a power mic for best results.

On Lons Scope & Meters he can get on there and it looks great with a stock mic running 100% Modulation, but when I get on there I think the meter is taking a nap and shows about 75 or 80% at the most unless I scream into it.

The note that said never seen a radio in 20 years that needed a power mic? OHBOYYYYY I have seen 100's over the last 30 years that needed one for me to be heard like the BIG BOYS.

If a bunch of the guys are telling you that you need a power mic then they are probably Right On as they are the ones that you are talking with on a regular basis & would probably hear you better / clearer with one.

And it will save you from shouting at them so they can hear you when the noise level is High or the Skip is running.

The design of the Astatic, Overdrive, Ranger and the DM-452 Hand mics that Copper Carries are all easy for a woman to use and hold.

My hands are not 1/2 the size of lons and my voice is not in the basement like his but a power mic makes us EQUAL.

Actually people say I sound better,

CM3885 is 100% correct in his helpful post above:

She wants a power mike to get more audio from the radio (it sounds soft with the stock mike) plus she doesnt have to swallow the mike like you do a stock mike.

Some of us do not have that GIANT Extra Large opening below our nose that some of the other gender have so we DO NEED A POWER MIC to be heard.

I hope this helps and get a Power Mic and try it.

Sometimes posts will get a topic way off base and makes it hard to get a good honest answer to a Serious question asking for help or advice.

And the debate goes on! LOL
Anywhoooo Shirley i loved your reply. Its great to see humor on the forums. Its kinda a lost art anymore with everyone so serious. But, back to topic! Shes been told by several operators here in our little CB neigborhood that she sounds better with a power mike than the stock mike. And she sounds 100% better with an amplified mike. She just need one that will fit in her little hands. Ive found the astatic D 104 hand mikes will probably work well. They are not as large as that Turner Roadking 60 she uses now.

Try a power microphone and forget the Microphone theory / history lesson.

Simple / Easy Instructions:

Hook Power Mic to radio and key mic and talk if they say you sound Better or it Sounds Good then you have passed the class on how to use a Power Microphone.

What works for men does not always work for women.

That is what I REALLY ENJOY about the New Magnum S-9 with the DUAL Microphone connectors so Lon can have his mic and I can have mine hooked up at the same time.

Different Strokes for Different Folkes.

Moonshadow,

Wellllllllll,

No thanks I have Lon to take care of and then I have been knitting a sweater for the Forummaster and with him being 6'9" I keep running out of yarn.

Maybe I will have it done for him in time for the 2005 2nd Annual CEF Gathering.

OOPS I forgot I will have to take the Duct tape off of lons forehead before he shows up.
