I forget about that pre-amp on my KL-500. I already have a pre-amp on my radio so I don't use the amp pre-amp much, but I connected with Jamaica today and when I turned it on, the signal jumped from S1 to S7. Now that's two pre-amps on at the same time. It does increase my noise level, but is there any adverse reaction in doing this?

I have NEVER had good luck with preamp. All I get is more noise along with more recieve, so the person I am trying to listen too sounds the same. The meter shows a bigger signal, but who cares what the meter says. I dont know, maybe I just never used a good one.

You are both right about the noise, but his (Jamaica) signal went up too, so its a trade off I guess.
