Airplane1, Sorry but my Computer crashed when I was approving posts, and got mine and your post. You can get mast pipe at: MENARDS, LOWES, HOME DEPOT, Wal-Mart or a lot of places or use any kind of pipe you may have on hand. Hope this helps. Lon Tech808 |

For lightweight beams and antennas try the chain link fence section of Lowes or Home Depot. Look for the pipe that fits on the top of the pipes you set in concrete. That Elco Guy |

The Lowes mast will work only if you use a smaller antenna (not a beam) and some guy lines using non metallic lines like UV resistant poly. Im gonna do this with my I maxx 2000 but ill more than likely only put it up 30' instead of using all 36' since im in a ground level aparment. I have my antenna up 18' and my mast is attached to the front porch eve and the bottom is stuck on a short peice of pipe jammed 2' in the ground. I get out ok but not as well as id like to. BTW, whats Airplane1 stand for? RU a pilot and own a small plane or RU just into RC planes? |

I used the 'green label' electrical conduit for my 20ft mast that sits 3ft into the top of my 50ft Rohn tower. The outside diameter is almost perfect for the 1 1/4inch inside diameter of the top tower section. It comes in 10ft sections and I screwed them together with a standard coupling. I have 2 antennas on it and the wind load is minimal because the 18ft boom of the bigger one is attached 2ft above the top of the tower. It is amazingly strong stuff, but obviously not really made for the stresses and loads of wind sheer. But it's cheap... |
