Lon,

I had my wattage checked today from my Ranger2995dx Base. My old PDC 600 Meter is
10 watts off. With the RF power turned wide open,
it is dead keying only 70 watts. What do I have to do to get someone to look at it & properly peak & tune it??? Thanks

Road warrior,

2 options here.

#1 ~ Send it back to Ranger for repair:

Ranger Radios / Ranger Communications

1-800-446-5778
Please contact for a RMA Number before returning products.

#2 ~ Contact: Tech8541@copperelectronics.com

Hope this helps.

Are you sure that something is wrong? What deadkey wattage are you expecting? Remember that on AM, your deadkey should not be more than a quarter to a third of what the radio puts out when fully modulated. If you turn the deadkey too high, you will run out of room for it to "swing", causing you to sound distorted.

Highlander,

For the record, i purchased my Ranger 2995dx base before i knew about Coppers or the Copper forum,
purchased through another Company. Others that own this type of radio seem to be getting more wattage & swing from this radio than I am. I wish to purchase a KLV 1000P and I want to drive it with 75-85 watts.
