Hi Bruce, I well remember the day. I watched the whole coverage on TV just after getting out of bed after working until almost 2:30 AM at the restaurant.

I was in the 6th grade and found it hard to comprehend. I don't think I even understood what murder or assassination was then. We were so innocent back then. :-)

I guess being 47 yrs old I remember it like it was yesterday...I was in 1st grade, the class was readying to go to lunch or out to recess, the Principal of my school came in and told my teacher having the last name starting with "A", I was in the front of the line. I heard what the principal quitely told her, (Mrs. Lightbourn) I remember she gasped and said" Oh my God No" then she passed out and hit the floor. School was dismissed for the day and I remember my Mother in tears as I came home, just sitting in front of the Old Black and White TV, crying endlessly and trying to explain to me as a 1st grader why it was so significant to the country. From the very begining, I remember my mother saying that it was done by more then one person. Well now she is long went to heaven, so she knows what realy happened. Maybe by the grace of God we too will all know someday, not here I'm sure but in the hereafter God Bless JFK, and Our Country....

as the ops supervisor at work, i'm the old guy, here i'm middle aged at least !! was 18 months old that day, so my memory fails me...and ohiobiker, i may know what you felt as my sons birthday is sept 11th, his 6th birthday was that fateful day, and as a regular visitor to the WTC area, he was awestruck at the realization that not only those 2 tremendous buildings, but the entire neighborhood were gone...though at 6, the disruption/postponement of his birthday party and the actions of the adults around him were a bit unsettling.

41 years have passed and how much has changed? Well....
we still are at war in some distant land
we still have the poor the sick and homeless
we still have cb and ham radio
BUT we dont have a 5 cent stamp and 10 cent coffee
some things have not changed for the better...

I remember the day well! .I was in the Air Force and I was TDY in Bermuda installing a Backscatter Radar System. I was also talking skip back to the States every night using an old 5 channel Johnson White Face CB radio....skip was very easy to do around that time and being in the Air Force I had access to many big,Big Antennas........one Antenna I used, was an 18 element Higain Log Periodic beam that was mounted on the top of an 450 foot tower.....Boy could I talk skip !....I could cause pile ups on any channel that I called CQ DX on.......That was the life....I was 20 years old.......My duty station was Ramstein Germany.........by the time I was 20 I had been in and through the East Zone many times,Checkpoint Charlie,Checkoslovakia,Berlin,Romania,Turkey,Spain,Lybia,North Africa,Ethiopia,Greece,Holland,England,France,Grand Bahama Islands,Bermuda,More,........Talking skip all the way....what a life it was.

That was when everyone wanted a browning radios and sbe counsole 5 with VFO's.
License Good idea but unlikely yes agree, but here cb's are not a hot deal anymore.
I do more giving directions for truck drivers and talking SSB and our net.
