I know the ham exams consist of multiple choice, and morse code exam, but is there anything else? I took practice exam in tech class and it was pretty good, so was thinking about trying for general, but don't know what all you have to study for. |

I'm asking, is that all, just multiple choice questions, no evaluating your radio procedures, basic electronic knowledge or symbols or anything like that? |

YES, that is all.
If you go to: http://www.qrz.com/testing.html
You can read Every Single Question that Will or Can appear on the Technician, General, or Extra Class exams.
If it is not there then it WILL NOT be on your test.
The Tests are Multiple Choice.
With over 40+ people that I personally know of ONLY "1" person has NOT passed the tests on the first try in the last 2 years and they passed on the Second time they tried it.
Take the QRZ tests and you will have NO PROBLEMS PASSING as you only need 70% to pass.
Study and take the QRZ Tests and you can work on Everything else AFTER you get your License.
I Personally suggest that you do NOT read or study anything else until AFTER you pass your test as it can get very confusing.
You will have Plenty of time AFTER you get your License to learn everything.
I have been elmering New hams for many many years now and am proud to say I have a 99% record of them passing on the FIRST TRY.
With QRZ you have a GIANT Advantage as you WILL ALREADY KNOW EVERY SINGLE QUESTION that Will or Can be on the Tests before you even get there.
And QRZ has helped to make it VERY EASY for those who want to join into the Ham World.
Take 3 tests in the Morning and three tests at night and Forget it until the next day.
After 7 to 14 days you should have No problems and will be passing with 80 to 95% or more of the questions.

The multiple choice questions will cover radio procedures, basic electronic knowledge, symbols and "everything like that."
Unless you really want to know the hard-core theories behind the questions asked, skip the books and just repeatedly do the QRZ sample tests. Oh ya, practice the code too. I believe it's a receive only code test.

I just took the Tech class test on QRZ got a 71.4 on it an have not study the book for a year.CEF 178 |

Dodgeman I believe 70% is passing on the real exam so if you work for awhile on QRZ you'll be ready for the test in no time.
Viking the code test is copy only, and if you use a good program you can get it down in under 30 days. I used Code Quick and was over prepared for the 5 wpm test. Then the general is not much more difficult than the Tech. So have at it.
