Lon...How can this be a special, when this was the price to start with. This is the price I paid for my new 257 with blue display, so I don't see where this is so hot of a deal.

Yes, the Regular Price was $169.99 for these radios and then if someone wanted the the OPTIONS they would pay the additional $30.00:
OPTIONS
Modify for 11 meter and Tune Up: add 30.00
THIS OPTION HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE TO THE 2 MAGNUM 257's ABOVE, WHICH SAVES THE PERSON ORDERING THEM $30.00.
When a person can get the $30.00 OPTION FREE this is a good deal.

They both work equally well and are both very good radios but the S-9 has far more features and that is why the Magnum S-9 is $150.00 more than the Magnum 257.
If you read the Reviews on both you can determine what features you want / need in a radio and then make a choice.
You can compare the Features of both the Magnum S-9 and the Older Style Magunm 257 by Reading the Review's on both of them in the Subscriber Preview area of the Forum.
The Review on the  Magnum Model 257 is also located there as well as Many Other Reviews on Products.
