The Lincoln has been the hot talk for quite a few years. I own one and must say it is one fine radio. When tuned properly, the modulation is out of this world. Feature for feature, looks, and performance vs performance, which radio would outscore the other one: the Lincoln or the Magnum S-9? mikefromms |

Mikefromms, I would honestly guess that less than 2% of the 3261 Copper Forum Members have actually owned or used both radios to give an honest hands on opinion of the actual performance of both radios. As they are both 100% Completey different with many different features such as the Lincoln is a Single Final radio and S-9 is a Dual Final Radio and there are many more differences between the 2 radios. I will give BOTH of them a 5 STAR ***** Rating for what they were designed to do. For those who have not Owned or Used both radios they see the features that each have to offer below. If you have not actually Owned both radios and Used both radios it is just another GUESSING GAME. ****** Code: E50-10002 PRESIDENT LINCOLN $ 289.99 "New Item" Limited Quantity These are brand new units FEATURES: CW,AM,FM,LSB,USB UC-1201A chip (1) MRF455 Transistor Channel selector. Bruce - Isn't every Ham a garbage collector to some extent or another? It really seemed to increase my "collection" of electronic equipment. Some of which I actually use. |

Ok i had a lincoln and did several mods to it RESULT it was the BEST small SSB 12 / 10 meter radio i had at that time. WITH the chipswitch mod it does things the S9 simply cannot do. The replacement of the RF stage and addition of a CHANNELGUARD filter made the receiver almost as good as my ft-840. Only drawback is the cost. |

i bought 2510 when they came out, original mod didn't say to add a resistor, but rest of mod was same. the radio itself had to warm up for 5 minutes or so before modded freqs would lock in. til then, it would only lock 10m. as soon as i saw lincoln i traded 2510 for an amp and a few days later found an updated mod that solved that problem. those i modded for others with new mod worked fine. i got rid of lincoln before i heard about chipswitch, by the time i'd ever gotten another lincoln and chipswitch, i already had my AR3500. still prefer 3500 to lincoln and S9. for MY 11m requirements, i don't think the lincoln does anything usable that the S9 doesn't have. i've used split on 3500 as a novelty, but serves no useful 11m purpose. not to say i wouldn't mind adding a lincoln to my stable, though! |
