Hi does anybody know how to calibrate/trim this particular antenna for lower swr's and get the best performance for channel 19 (27.185)? Antenna is mounted on a mirror bracket on my 18 wheeler using a galaxy 44 the swr is higher on ch40 and low swr on ch1 the door of the truck is already grounded to the truck radiator. truck is a 99 international. the antenna is a 4' fiberglass cheap brand from the truck stop (diesel electronics)it seems to have a copper wire around the fiberglass all the way to the top should I trim the wire?? how much at a time? Thank you for your comments.

How high are your swr's?
Unless you are running an amp, anything below a swr of 2 is fine.

Dxuall

I have a 4 foot firestick works just fine across the 40 ch cb band. Check VSWR at ch 1 ch 20 and ch 40 if it looks good across the band LEAVE IT ALONE. If it goes down as you go up its already too short of it goes up then you have some room to trim the wire. thoes kind of antennas as a rule are just fine right out of the box.
