Hello all I have been planning on upgrading for a good while I run a RCI 2980 now, But planning to get a RCI 2985dx or a 2995dx mostly leading to the 2995dx to keep from running a large amp. But today a radio[ buddy}wanted to make a trade with me, His Stone Wall Jackson which is in great shape for my Heathkit 220 which I bought in 1977 and it is just like I bought it still in box never been unpacked. Will that be a good trade or should I get the 2995dx I know if I put the 220 together I will have trouble (TVI)I love sideband but talk am some Will the Stone Wall work better on sideband than 2995dx if so maybe I would be able to get a six frez. counter with the money I save. Hope to do something in the next few days. Thanks for the help. CEF 158 PS If some don't know the 220 heathkit is just what it says KIT 2000 watt

Wayne - I don't even want to speculate on what an unassembled SB-200 is worth, but I can tell you that there are people out there who are CRAZY for Heathkit stuff and would bid each other into the poorhouse for a NIB SB-220!

One other piece of advice - wait until late Feb or Mar to auction it. That'll give folks time to recover from holiday spending and even get their tax returns.

My opinion is get the Ranger 2995dx Base or
similar radio./ The Stonewall Jackson sounds
good as i know 2 people that have them./But, my one friends radio went down & he couldn't find
a schematic for it./ It is sort of a cross breed
radio./ Part Galaxy, part Ranger, part whatever./
If anyone has a Schematic for a Stonewall Jackson, please e-mail me as my friend would really appreciate a copy./ I have a Ranger 2995dx Base, which i like alot./

Wayne,
I would hang on to the SB-220. you have a great piece of history and a valuable piece of equipment. you would regret giving it up later.

Yes, keep the Heathkit, if you do want to sell it, wait till later as suggested and auction it. You'll get a verrrrryyyy pretty penny for it. You DON'T find many, if any, unassembled Heathkit's and assembled mint Heathkit's are hard to come by.

WOW thanks everyone , I guess I'll go and buy the 2995dx and keep the sb220hkit and tell my radio budy the trade is off. But I don't think I'll ever run the sb220 because I have a bad neighbor who hates radios CB he complains when I put up a new antenna so if his TV flicks he call me or my next door neighbor. Never run power so I will go withthe 2995dx. Thanks again Copper I'll be calling you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wayne, good choice, put the sb220 in a glass case and just admire it. You may be the only person on the face of the earth with one still in kit form. One day, the neighbor will be gone or maybe you'll move, and THEN you can have your fun.

Yeah, they are worth great money, especially in Kit form, another aside is when I was living in a neighborhood I was running a little two pill box, got lots of complaints, fired up the HK which put out three times what the other box did, and no complaints. A quality piece of equipment!!
