What to think the IMAX-2000 has been tested upwards to around 10,000 watts, I could be wrong and the test power was less than that. The IMAX-2000 is not just a CB radio antenna, it is also advertized as a 10 meter amateur radio antenna, but works well on 10 thru 15 meters with good results, also if you have the right conditions and a good antenna tuner the IMAX-2000 can also do 20 meters with fair results. As far as blowing the coil, static charge from near by lightning or a direct lightning hit will blow the coil. I have read reports of a direct lightning hit blowing up the whole antenna to just pieces of it over a wide area on your land. Myself I have seen what a direct lightning hit did to a Antron A-99, wasn't much of it left standing, it was my Close friend's back home in New York. 73, Carl CEF-357 |

I am regestered now. Is it possable to have the pl-259 connection on the end of my new Belden 9913 that I put together heat up enough to short out at the antenna? I know there is a dead short at the top of the tower at the antenna, because when I put a volt test meter on the radio end it says so. The weather is sub 20 degees here in Michigan right now and tilting my tower down to re-do the connection will have to wait until I get some help, I would hate to get the help tilt the tower down and find out I need a new antenna and not have one ready to put on while I have the help here already. I find it hard to believe my one and a half month old new wire and connects would go bad on the end, I did a beautiful job soldering the silver pl-259 on and it had no short and worked perfect until a few days ago. |

I saw a photo somewhere where one of those superbowlers burned one up using far less than that. Yankee can you put that much into one of them? It could be damaged physically or was hit by lightning. Bobalooey |

Going to the review will answer your question, yes it will appear as a short at DC. It's a coil of wire, look at the schematics. Fooled me too Chad |
