Merry Christmas everyone!! I wonder if someone could send me a schematic showing how to install a SP-1A speech processor into a Uniden 78 cb. The instructions with this are just vague enough to leave a guy with my limited knowledge out in the cold.
Please help me?

If you have limited "mod" knowledge, I would suggest that you have a tech do it for you.

HI..The instructions that came with it where for an ar3300 + ar3500 transciever, and detail how you should dismantle the coax at the mic jack to install. My radio has no coax to follow thru, it simply has 4 wires of different colour. As far as making a few solder joints goes, I have no trouble at all. My question is ...which wires?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

You need to find which mic-pin-wires are Audio and Ground. Assuming there are wires that come from the mic plug to the PCB (as opposed to direct PCB solder connections), at mid point of the Audio and Ground wire, cut the 2 wires. (there are now 4 cut ends) At the 2 wires that go to the mic plug, connect the 2 wires from the SP1A that have the clear tubing (white to Audio, black to Ground). At the 2 wires that go to the PCB, connect the 2 wires from the SP1A that have the black tubing. Connect the remainning red wire to 12V+, black wire to ground and the grey to a switch-to-ground or straight to ground to have the SP1A on all the time.

Uniden has usually used for their 4-pin mics:
pin 1 - Shield/Ground
pin 2 - Audio
pin 3 - Transmit
pin 4 - Receive

I don't have information specifically for the PC-78, so maybe someone can confirm this pin out.
